Dear Parents,

My name is Jennifer Butler and I am going to be your child's Kindergarten teacher this year!  This month, your child will complete one of the most important milestones in his or her life - beginning Kindergarten!  I understand you and your child may be meeting this day with excitement or apprehension (or a little of both). Kindergarten is a year of new beginnings, of making friends, and of learning lots of new things each and every day.  Our days and weeks will be filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing.

Your child's regular and prompt attendance at school is critical for his or her success.  Our day will begin at 8:45am, so please make sure your child is logged onto their computer and ready at this time. When logged in, students should be ready to learn, so please make sure your child has a quiet learning space with necessary school supplies (pencils, crayons, scissors, glue sticks, notebooks, and reading/math materials) that is free from distractions including other forms of electronics, toys, pets, and snacks. However, a nearby water bottle is probably a good idea. Movement and break opportunities will be provided throughout the learning time as needed. Most kindergarten learning activities are group oriented and involve interaction with classmates.  Therefore, it is next to impossible to make up work afterwards.  Please view school as a priority, and see to it your child attends every day except in cases of illness or emergency.  Please remember you must send an e-mail to school for any absences.

I believe a good parent-teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success.  Throughout the year I will communicate with you through notes, phone calls, newsletters, graded work samples, report cards, and parent-teacher conferences.  I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time.  I am looking forward to a wonderful year with you and your child!

Mrs. Butler
